Magro Brothers commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility was manifested again in a tree planting activity held on Tuesday 26th February at Mgarr Heights in Gozo.
All the employees of Magro Brothers group of companies each planted an indigenous tree in an area very visible by all who travel to Gozo. This activity was purposely organised a few days after the opening of the new passenger terminal at Mgarr harbour.
Magro Brothers is the first company in Gozo to enrol in the tree for you planting scheme – a scheme which helps to embellish the landscape of Malta and Gozo.
For this event four coaches filled with high-spirited staff of the Magro Brothers Group were each given a tree to plant. The planted trees included olive, pine and carob varieties and trees were tagged with the names of the employees.
For generations, Magro Brothers have always been conscious of their social responsibilities, especially towards the island of Gozo, and today this philosophy forms an integral part of their approach to business both in the agricultural sector and within the community at large.
“We wanted to thank all our employees for their continued support and commitment towards the company's success and we believe that this activity will make our employees feel more proud to work for an organisation that cares for our environment “said managing director John Magro.
Good practices of corporate social responsibility revolve around environmental aspects and generally include self-imposed environmental objectives. We, at Magro Brothers, have several programmes currently running to support the environment including energy saving schemes, battery-operated transport vehicles, water recycling, paper conservation and waste separation practices to mention but a few schemes which we already operate in-house” John Magro added.
