Magro Brothers, local leading food producers, launched their new range of products, under the brand name Savina, in style last Saturday.
Savina’s identity is inspired by Mediterranean culture, traditions, scents and delicacies – a feast to unleash the senses!
These new products aimed at the tourist industry, especially the incentive travel sector, offer great opportunities for customised corporate promotions. Savina products were launched during a concert on the bastions of the Cittadella in Gozo where hundreds of people including the Prime Minister, Hon. Gonzi and Ms. Gonzi, and the Minister for Gozo, Hon. Giovanna Debono were present. Representatives of around 60 regions of the European Union who were participating in a conference of the CPMR (Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions) also enjoyed this top event.
The concert, under the artistic direction of Maestro John Galea, included interpretations of various traditional Maltese folk songs by famous local artists, choirs and bands – all of which can be found on a musical CD compilation specially commissioned for the Savina range. The CD, “Soundscapes of a Mediterranean Culture”, is a journey through a Mediterranean fusion of rhythms and beats and strives to capture the essence of the Island’s artistic soul.
Excerpts from Savina’s audio-visual productions were also highly enjoyed during the evening. Spectacular imagery and traditional and cultural heritage is captured on Savina’s DVD’s – “Nobel Malta” and “Tranquil Gozo”, both expressing the natural beauty and splendor of our islands.
Accompanying the sounds and vibrant images, Savina wines and delicacies were savoured with great gusto and traditional fireworks brought to an end this true Mediterranean feast for the senses.
In all 15 Savina products were launched and all offered excellent taste. The professional design of the Savina products and the level of detail was also admired by the guests. This top event was sponsored by HSBC, the world’s local bank, and Mr Shaun Wallis, the CEO of the Bank, addressed the distinguished audience. The Hon. Prime Minister and the Minister for Gozo also delivered a speech during the concert.
Dr. Lawrence Gonzi expressed his delight for the efforts Magro Brothers are doing to promote the local industry and the Maltese culture. He said that the evening not only unleashed his senses but also his emotions “what you are doing tonight is launching a concept which finds its very existence in the roots that makes us Maltese and Gozitans”.
Dr Gonzi also stated that he was proud to have people like the Magros who believe in Malta and in what product Malta had to offer, “Fruit, music, scenery, smell and touch – this is what makes us Maltese, what makes us special, what gives all visitors that special experience of being Maltese and Gozitan.”
The Minister for Gozo, Hon. Giovanna Debono also heartily congratulated John and Michael Magro for “promoting the cultural values of Gozo as well as its food”. She said that thanks to Magro Brothers, tomato products, such as Kunserva, have become a trade mark for Gozo where quality and genuine products are the order of the day.
